Who
will be my life coach? I
am a certified life coach having trained with the Life Coaching Institute. I am
also a member of the Association of Life Coaching and abide by its ethical
code of practice. I have a degree in Social Psychology from the London School
of Economics. I also trained for three years as a counsellor with the Metanoia
Institute.
My
approach is to combine life coaching with the skills of a counsellor, listening,
being non-judgmental and showing empathy. The difference between life coaching
and counselling is that life coaching looks at the present and future and dips
into the past to see what might be blocking you but doesn't go deeply into the
past. I
have experience of working as a coach and counsellor with both gay and straight
clients. I have also volunteered as a facilitator in a coming out group for five
years. My own life experience includes: being married for three years; coming
out when I was 28 years old; living with a female partner for eight years; working
in the voluntary sector and for a national newspaper; living abroad and setting
up my own business - so I have plenty to draw on! However,
coaching is not about me giving advice based on my experience, it is about working
with you to find your own path and drawing on your resources to lead a happier,
more fulfilled life.
